  • A Bronze Applique of a River God
  • Length 7 1/4 in. 18.5 cm.
reclining in a majestic pose with his head turned to his right, the vessel under his left arm covered by the folds of his himation, his long luxuriant beard flowing onto the chest.

Condition

right forearm and hand fragmentary as shown, big toe chipped, breaks along top and right side of vertical element against god's proper left elbow, surface slightly worn overall including left hand, face, and front of hair, probably from fairly harsh mechanical cleaning, scattered areas of bright corrosion, possible remains of inlay in proper right eye
