- A Greek Marble Anthemion
- 43 by 22 3/4 in. 109.2 by 57.8 cm.
the tapering shaft carved in shallow relief with two rosettes above a fragmentary line of engraved Greek inscription reading Hesti[aios?], the architrave surmounted by a tall slightly concave anthemion composed of twin spirally-fluted acanthus stalks both emerging from a three-leaf calyx and terminating in addorsed downward-curving volutes, each with pendent bell flower, the half palmettes above flanking an omphalos.

Good and as shown, note damage to top of monument and losses to top of left-hand palmette, minor chips to edges of ornaments overall, scattered remains of incrustation
