Canvas is lined. SURFACE: in good condition; pigments have sunk into panel over time, so that grain of wood shows through in a few places UNDER ULTRA VIOLET: there is inpainting, but very difficult to see through old varnish--there appears to be some strengthening to drapery at left and there may be a few dots/dashes on his face
