Catalogue Note

Lance Humphries writes: "The artist painted this work while in residence at the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, Oyster Bay, New York. While there, he became interested in still life, painting Still Life - Peonies and two others in the following fall. These three works are the only known still lifes by the artist" (Daniel Garber Catalogue RaisonnĂ©, 2006, vol. II, p. 163).
