Catalogue Note
Forrest Fenn writes "Two Moons was another favorite model for Sharp who painted his portrait from life and photographs at least twenty-five times between 1900 and 1927. Although he was a Cheyenne and lived at Lame Deer, a thirty-eight mile ride to Crow Agency, Two Moons was a frequent visitor to Sharp's Studio" (Teepee Smoke: A New Look Into the Life and Work of Joseph Henry Sharp, 2007, p. 146)
