Canvas is not lined. SURFACE: in good condition, generally; heavy craquelure in sky (looks stable) UNDER ULTRA VIOLET: very difficult to ascertain restoration--hard to see through dark pigments; some of them seem to fluoresce still

An inscription on the wooden backing behind the canvas reads as follows: Capri June 3rd 1911/ This picture is the property of Mrs. Emma Ward Bucknell of / Philadelphia - price, as agreed, eight hundred dollars ($800) upon which a/ payment of $300 has been made and as per the wish of Mrs. Bucknell, the/ picture is to be retained by me until balance is paid - balance five hundred dollars ($500)
