Catalogue Note

Along with his friends, American artists Guy Rose, Alson Skinner Clark, and Frederick Frieseke, Parker lived for a time in Giverny, close to the studio and residence of Monet.  This work is a study for 'The Orange Parasol', which was painted near the studio which Frieseke and Parker shared.  It depicts Frieseke's wife, Sarah, on a small boat holding an orange parasol.
