Catalogue Note

The use of a highly contrasting palette incorporating seven colors in varying shades enhance the lively pattern depicted in this blanket, clearly reminiscent of both Saltillo blanket and American quilt designs. For a discussion of Vallero blankets, see Nora Fisher, Rio Grande Textiles, Santa Fe, 1994, pp. 97-103, particularly pl. 82.
