Condition
The actual paintings are warmer and more yellow in tone than the catalogue illustrations suggest. The alabaster plates are in good condition. There are some minor surface scratches, but otherwise, the alabaster is very smooth, and there are no damages. The paint surface is slightly abraded in places, e.g. in the lady's dress, in the chair, in the upper left corner in the lady's portrait, and in the feather and trousers of the horseman, as is clearly visible in the catalogue illustration. The brushwork in the highlights, in particular in the man's jacket is nicely preserved.
Offered in simple black ebonised wood frames in good condition. (MW)
