Description

  • Portrait of a young lady, bust length, wearing a green dress with a red cloak, with a white lace headdress and a pearl necklace
  • oil on panel
  • 13.3 by 9.8 cm.

Condition

The actual painting is softer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The single panel is bevelled on all sides. No damages seem to be apparent. A few small discoloured retouchings are visible in the sitter's dress. The paint surface is covered with a dull layer of varnish. The craquelure pattern is somewhat coarse. Inspection under ultra violet confirms the aforementioned retouchings and furthermore, reveals a few very tiny ones in the sitter's face and chest, and in the background. Offered in a decorative carved and gilt wood frame, with a few losses. (MW)
