Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is slightly softer, with the white background tending more towards creamy-white in the original. Condition: This work is in good condition. A number of scattered tension cracks can be noticed upon close inspection to the extreme overturn edges, with a few associated specks of media loss. There are several stable hairline cracks to the central part of the composition including a few further networks of craquelure to the white painted areas, some of which appear to have been stabilised and therefore fluoresce under ultra-violet light. This can be seen in particular to the upper centre, to the left centre, and to the centre of the lower left quadrant. A further spot fluoresces to the red passage in the upper right extreme corner, along the top edge. Some light wear is present along the four extreme edges and to the four extreme corner tips.
