Description
- Tiffany Studios
- Four-Branch Candelabrum
- base stamped TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK 1265
- patinated bronze and favrile glass
Provenance
Christie's New York, June 7, 2000, lot 245
Condition
Generally very good overall condition. Some minor rubbing and wear to patina as expected. The right proper favrile candle cup has a fine crack which may be evidence of a cleverly repaired break. The metal insert of that candle cup has the presence of lacquer and retouching to the patina and the lip of the insert is larger than the others present. The bobeches are in good order and one has three spring tabs to hold it in place and the others present have two. The bobeche with the tree tabs appears to have some retouching to its patina. One candle cup is slightly loose and would benefit from adjustment. Some fine chips to the favrile candle cups where they accept the base, they are not overtly apparent and are likely inherent in the making. Snuffer present.
