Oil on plywood.
From a first hand inspection the support looks convex. Looking at the reverse there is a vertical crack in the middle and one on the left-hand side. On the front there are horizontal cracks also visible form the picture in the catalogue; the longest in the middle.
The ultra violet light reveals fluorescent varnish dishomogeneously spread over the surface. The lighter areas were cleansed. there are retouches over the white area of the fireplace, under the man's feet in the front and along the lower edge next to the right-hand corner.
the works need careful cleansing and restoration of the support.
the overall condition as to the state of preservation is quite good.
