Condition

Work relined. From a first hand inspection there are some retouches cross shaped on the left-hand side of the first stair-step and in the right-hand corner. The ultra violet light reveals fluorescent varnish over the darker areas (dress, hat and stair) while the lighter areas were cleaned. There are retouches with a yellowish-green appearence due to the presence of zinc in the pigments along the left-hand and right-hand side edges. Three other retouches are visible in the background on the right and left-hand side of the hat (cm 1 x 7 circa; 1.5 x 1.5 circa; 5 x 2.5 circa). More small darker retouches are visible in the back ground over an arc-shaped area from the drawing to the hat and minor ones over the dress and stairs. The last one is visible over the background next to the second stair-step (cm 6 x 4 circa).

Catalogue Note
