Condition

Chips and age cracks to many places but mostly to back edges of boy's coat. Some areas of repainting to trousers and possible restorations in places. There is one crack above the ankle of the right foot and the paint has a tendancy to flake. The fancy chair, associated, with wear to painted decor. The fishing pole also associated.

Catalogue Note

Regina Lewit-Goldscheider was the widow of the celebrated sculptor Friedrich Goldsheider (1845-1865) and took over the firm following Friedrich's death.

An identical figure sold as one of a group of two, Sotheby's New York, June 15, 2005, lot 200, for $27,000.
