each fitted with their original brass liners, signed F. LEVILLAIN and F. BARBEDIENNE.
Condition
Considering their age, there is wear to gilt highlights mostly around the legs. Tarnishing to brown patination. Both vases are dirty. Traces of varnish to the brown patina leaving visible brush strokes.

Catalogue Note
Famed for his medals, the French sculptor Ferdinand Levillain exhibited at the Paris Salon regularly from 1861. He received a silver medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1889. In 1892, the French Republic made Levillain a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur.
