Catalogue Note

The present console is closely related to a model executed in May 1809 for the second Salon for the Empress Josephine at the Palace Tuileries.  Although the female chimera supports on the original model lack the basket on their heads, the scale and large rectangular block feet and supports are arguably derived from this model.
