Condition

A small break of approximately 4 inches long to the front of the helmet, now showing the restored crack. Marble pedestal in good condition with minor chips and scratches to surface, especially to the edges.

Menelaus, or Menelaos, was a king of ancient Sparta and a central figure in the Trojan War. The present bust is after the Roman copy of the Hellenistic Greek original head, now set on a later bust in the premanent collection of the Vatican, Rome.
