  • 65.4 cm
signed B. BOSCHETTI / ROMA to the base.  Together with a painted metal figure of the same model after Boschetti.

Condition

The first with small loss to end of staff, some minor wear and scratches consistent with age and use. The second with some scratches to the painted surface and with a small hole to proper right hand, slight dent to back of circular base.

Catalogue Note

This figure is modelled after the antique statue of Ceasar Agustus commissioned by his adopted son Tiberius around 15 A.D.  It was discovered at Prima Porta nine miles outside of Rome in the villa belonging to Augustus' wife Livia in 1863.  It is now in the collection of the Vatican Museum.
