mahogany, kingwood bandings and satiné cube-parquetry, the central cupboard fitted with a vernis Martin panel painted with a pastoral scène gallante, the lock signed Vve-SORMANI/10 r. Charlot/Paris.
Condition
Overall in good condition with the usual minor scratches, dents and nicks to veneers and carcass consistent with age and use. Slight tarnishing to gilt-bronze in places.

Catalogue Note
Although the present vitrine was realized by the renowned Parisian firm Sormani, the inspiration for this model came from François Linke. An early Linke model, index number 75, was first started around 1890.
Compare with a similar lot which sold Sotheby's, New York, A Private Collection Vol. II, April 19th, 2006, lot 20, for $36,000. Another similar vitrine by Veuve Sormani sold Sotheby's New York, October 24, 2007, lot 273 for $$31,000.
