Description

  • height 25 3/4 in., length 38 1/2 in. (65.5, 95 cm)
elongated quatrefoil base decorated with fruit, flowers and grapes in relief, with monogrammed cartouches, the stem formed by three addorsed female figures representing fruit, flowers and wine, with attributes, supporting a shallow bowl pierced with classical foliage, the rim stamped with maker's mark and name, numbered underneath 944208

Catalogue Note

The "surtout 3 femmes à 4 vasques" was designed for Christofle around 1855.  Variations on the stem figures were employed for a wide variety of forms, and echoed by Christofle's competitors in England and America.
