the cartonnier with seven gilt-tooled burgundy leather faceted drawers centered by a circular painted and parcel gilt enamel dial with Roman and Arabic chapters and inscribed Forest/Paris above two frieze drawers and two flower basket marquetry cupboard doors terminating on turned feet with Maison Forest  inset metalic label to one door.

Maison Forest was established at 14 rue Pierre-Picard in 1883 and at 31 rue Cambaceres, Paris. The furniture produced by the firm stands out for its high quality applied gilt-bronze mounts and furthermore for its notable ébénisterie and fine décoration.
