Condition

The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.: This painting has been lined using wax as an adhesive. The paint layer is stable and appears to have been fairly recently cleaned and varnished. The paint layer seems to be in healthy state with no noticeable abrasion. The coat of the figure in the foreground seems to have been strengthened slightly and there may be some restoration in the green around the signature and perhaps in the foliage in front of the figure. Under ultraviolet light it is hard to accurately identify restorations, yet it seems that in the lower part of the mountain on the right side that there are a few retouches. The restoration may be a little sloppy and it is possible that if the painting were to be cleaned and the retouches reexamined, more accuracy could be provided. Overall however, the picture looks well.
