Condition

STRUCTURE: The board is sound. SURFACE: The paint surface is relatively clean with strong areas of impasto. There are areas of craquelure mainly in the upper half of the work and concentrated areas in the upper right and left quarters. FRAME: Held in a gilt painted frame in fair condition. ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT: UV light reveals patches of retouching to the tables in the foreground and some old infilling to craquelure in the centre and upper right sections of the composition. COLOUR COMPARISON: The colours are slightly darker than the illustration suggests.
