Condition

STRUCTURE: Relined. The canvas is loose in its frame. SURFACE: Some rubbing has occurred along the edges where the canvas meets the frame. Otherwise, the painting appears to be in good condition, slightly dirty and may benefit from cleaning. UV LIGHT: Under UV light there appears to be some minor retouching on the sitter's apron and skirt. There is some evidence restoration on the lower edge of the painting and some minor retouching along the left edge. There are a few other spots of retouching elsewhere. FRAME: Contained in a plain gilt painted wooden frame. CATALOGUE COMPARISON: The colours are darker in the original painting than the catalogue illustration suggests
