Condition

STRUCTURE: The canvas has been relined. The structure is sound and secure. SURFACE: The paint surface is in good clean condition with an even varnish. ULTRAVIOLET: UV light reveals infilling to craquelure in the background and the sky, some further to the pillar and the road. Also there is retouching to the lady's face, lower left as well as to the horse and the rider. FRAME: Held in a plaster gilt frame in fair condition. COLOUR COMPARISON: The catalogue illustration is broadly representative.
