STRUCTURE:
Unlined.
SURFACE:
The paint surface appears to be in good original condition and clean. There are some very fine areas of surface craquelure mainly along the top edge. There is a small area of lifting paint in the top right hand corner.
UV LIGHT:
Under UV Light retouchings appear on the red dress mainly around her left hand, in the background just behind the pot on the left hand side and small areas on the chair on the right side. There is another small area on the child's jacket on the right side and stronger retouchings to both faces and the back of the chair.
FRAME:
Contained in an original gilt painted wood frame. The insert appears to be regilded.
COLOUR COMPARISON:
Colours are not as light as the catalogue illustration suggests. They are stronger and more bold.
