Description
- George Frederic Watts, O.M., R.A.
- portrait of a young titled girl
- oil on canvas
Provenance
Collection of Mrs Hart, the artist's ward
Condition
STRUCTURE:
Relined.
SURFACE:
There are areas of fine paint losses and these areas appear fragile and in some cases they are lifting. These appear mainly on the figure and in the brown pigments in his hair and jacket. The canvas has rubbed against the frame in the bottom left and top right hand corner. We would recommend this picture to be restored and the paint surface stabilised as soon as possible.
UV LIGHT:
Under UV some light sweeping light restoration appears in the background on the left and right edge. Spot retouchings appear mainly on the jacket of the sitter, on his face and several in his hair.
FRAME:
Contained in a plain gilt painted wood frame.
