Condition

STRUCTURE The canvas has been relined but the structure is sound. PAINT SURFACE The paint surface is in good condition with some scattered patches of craquelure visible upon close inspection. ULTRAVIOLET Reveals some extensive retouching in the foreground landscape around the horses and hounds, as well as in the lower part of the sky. There is some additional retouching in the sky and to the figures in the lower right hand foreground. FRAME: Held in a later gilt wood frame. CONCLUSION The work is in good overall condition. The colour of the sky is richer than is illustrated in the catalogue. The work is clean and ready to hang.
