Catalogue Note
Born in the port of Cuxhaven on the North Sea, Hussman studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Kunst in Berlin under W. Friedrich and P. Meyerheim. He executed many fine equestrian bronzes, a collection of which can be found in the Krupp'sche Villa in Essen. In addition to pure equine studies such as the American racehorse Walter Dear (circa 1929), he modelled several horse and rider groups such as the Olympischer Sieger.
