Catalogue Note

These pieces are sometimes referred to as 'Troonkast' and usually feature an upper section which provides space for the display of precious objects or plate. The architectural form is as result of a design tradition established by designers working at that time. Architect designers such as Jan Vredeman de Vries (1527-1606) whose printed material was widely disseminated across Europe. These figures had a direct influence on designers and this architectural monumentality inspired influence can clearly be seen in this offered lot.
