Catalogue Note

This type of cauldron is known as a 'Dreibeintopf'. Many examples of this type are illustrated in Dexel, Das Hausgerät Mitteleuropas. A similar example, with the same zoomorphic feet and with bearded faces, was sold at Sotheby's Zurich on 26th November 1980, lot 93.
