This model appears to be after an example in the collections of The Louvre (MR. 2597). Manifattura di Signa produced many models from casts after Renassiance examples and retailed them at showrooms in Florence, Rome, Turin and in London at 17 Mount Street. Their catalogues were famous and were used as a vehicle for selling. The offered lot appears as no. 589. in table  XLIII in a catalogue from the end of the 19th century.
