Aloysius O'Kelly b. 1853

The present work is a large scale study for Inside the Chapel that O'Kelly completed in 1905 and exhibited extensively in New York at the time.  The interior is of the pilgrimage church Chapelle Locmaria-an-hent in the commune of Saint Yvi (between Pont-Aven and Quimper) and was a particular favourite of O'Kelly's which he subsequently used as the location for his breton church interiors painted over a 25 year period.
