The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.: This painting has been lined with glue in the last thirty years and was most likely also cleaned and restored at that time. The paint layer still appears to be slightly dirty. There are retouches clearly visible under ultraviolet light although it does not appear to address abrasion, which provides a nice sharp image. Retouches are clearly visible addressing some cracking in the grasses behind and in between the dogs. There are also retouches addressing what appears to be thinness or cracking in the dark patches on the backs of the dogs in the foreground. There may have been a light tone applied to the sky and to a few spots of retouch applied to the dark colors on the chickens. There are small incidental retouches here and there in other parts of the picture. The picture looks well in its current state and could be hung as is, however these retouches could be refined and pursued in a more cautious fashion.
