The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.: This painting is in good condition. The canvas has been lined onto a new stretcher. The paint layer is stable although slightly dirty and with an uneven varnish. There are restorations visible throughout the composition addressing areas were the paint layer has separated. There are also restorations addressing areas where the canvas bars have come into contact with the stretcher bars causing small breaks in the paint layer. Overall this picture is generally in good condition and could be hung as is. One could also consider lightly cleaning the paint layer and reproaching the retouches in a more conservative manor.
