Condition
STRUCTURE:
This picture is relined and in very good condition with strong colours and fine detail. There is a small area of fine craquelure in the centre of the composition. There are no obvious damages. The paint surface is covered by a layer of discoloured varnish and dirt and should benefit from a light clean.
UNDER ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT:
The discoloured varnish which appears opaque under UV makes a Conclusive reading of the painting very difficult. There are possibly retouchings beneath the varnish.
FRAME:
This picture is contained in a later plaster moulded frame.
SUMMARY:
This is a good example by the artist which should respond well to cleaning.
