Condition

The canvas has been laid on board, possibly later. The paint surface is slightly dirty and there is a layer of discoloured varnish. A line of small holes is visible on the left inner frame edge from where the canvas was originally on a stretcher. Examination under UV reveals flecks of retouching along the left-hand edge, in the corners and to the central tree. Held in a silver-painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
