Condition
The canvas has been lined. The paint surface is quite dirty and there is a layer of discoloured varnish. There are four vertical lines of cracking in the top right hand quadrant of the canvas. Examination under UV light reveals a layer of opaque varnish. There appear to be traces of old retouching in places underneath the varnish, particularly to the sky over the lines of craquelure. Held in a black painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
