Catalogue Note

This design has recently been attributed to a 1933 New York production of La vie Parisienne by Nikolai Balieff's travelling theatre company Letuchaya mysh' [the bat].

It is believed the offered work belonged to the late Sir Frederick Ashton and then Anthony Russell Roberts, a director of the Royal Ballet.
