Condition

The canvas has been strip lined. The paint surface is rather dirty and there is a layer of discoloured varnish. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals patches of sweeping retouching to the sky and additional flecks elsewhere including some strengthening to the signature. However, the presence of an unevena dnopaque layer of varnish prevents a more conclusive examination. Held in a modern gold painted plaster and wood frame. Unexamined out of frame.
