Condition
Original canvas. There is a layer of light surface dust. Examination under UV light reveals flecks of retouching throughout; two vertical lines in the sky and a line measuring approx 20cm on the second figure. Unframed.

The offered lot was exhibited in Riga and also included in the International Exhibition of Artists of the Soviet Union in the 1970s.
German Dontsov studied in Kharkov like Alexander Deineka, and was greatly influenced by the latter's bold, stylised technique. The offered lot depicts university students who would spend their summers in Altai helping to cultivate new lands.
