Condition

There is some surface dirt and minor rubbing in places. There are a few sheaves of corn missing.

Catalogue Note

This very decorative bronze group is the model used for a bronze clock, held in a private collection in Moscow, and dated 1874.  According to a catalogue raisone produced for the exhibition of works from the Tretyakov Gallery in Spaso House, Moscow, this was the artist's most productive period. It was bronzes produced in the years immediately preceding 1875 that won Chizhov the gold medal Souvenir reconnaisant de M-me le Brun, "for high expression". Frolicsome Girl, dated 1873 is held in the Tretyakov Gallery collection.
