Description

  • diameters: 24cm., 9½in
one finely painted with an English landscape inscribed Pembroke Town and Castle on a lilac shaped rim, the other painted with an Austrian landscape, inscribed Ruins du Chateau de Sayn. RUINS OF THE CASTLE OF SAYN. Ruins des Schlosses von Sayn, on a blue shaped rim, both similarly decorated with gild laurel and berry wreath and scallop shells, with blue Imperial cyphers for Nicholas I, the lilac signed and dated V. Schetinin, 1834, O.4.2., the blue signed and dated N. Semenov 1834, E.2.4

Condition

Minor surface scratches and light rubbing to the cavettos consistent with age.
