held in a cast and chased silver oklad with scrolling foliate borders, the halo similarly decorated with palm-tip border, 84 standard

Condition

There are two horizontal struts to the reverse, the lower bowed out. There is a vertical crack running to the right of the centre. There are patches of discoloured overpainting and paintloss to Christ's cheeks, forehead, chin, earlobes and neck. The oklad is secured to the icon with pins and staples. It is slightly bent in places, particularly around the edge of the halo. We would advise prospective buyers to view.
