A double-register icon, Northern School, late 17th century

part of a two-tiered iconostasis depicting the Prophet Solomon and the Transfiguration

The icon has been cut down and there are two horizontal struts to the reverse. There is a horizontal split between the two registers and vertical one 35cm. long running from the middle fo the top edge. The paint surface is dirty and worn in places. There are chips to the paint surface in places, especially along the cracks. There appears to be loss to the varnish to the Saviour on the lower register. We would advise propsective buyers to view.
