Description
- height 66cm.,width 164cm., depth 62cm.
the hinged cover above ornate front inlaid in ebonised wood, rectangular moulded panels flanked by fluted pilasters, the reverse carved with the year 1642, and the name IAN MARCELISVS MERTNS
Condition
The colours of the printed catalogue illustration are slightly too bright. The overall condition is good. There are the inevitable minor dents, marks and scratches due to age and use. The feet are tipped. Minor traces of old woodworm. There is a metal patch to each lower back feet. The inner compartment lacking. Two supports to the reverse of the top are later. The chest is inlaid with ebony banding and not as stated in the printed catalogue.
