Condition
The actual painting is less bright and has less contrast than the catalogue illustration suggests. The panel consists of two planks, joined vertically, and is bevelled. Two small battons are attached to the reverse on the lower right to reinforce a repaired crack lower right. The join is slightly visible to the front. Thiness visible mainly in the sky. Some minor spots of paint loss in the centre and upper right. Otherwise the paint surface is in good condition.Discoloured retouchings can be seen in the sky and in the trees, as well as minor strengthening lower left and in the foliage in the centre. The painting is covered with a slightly glossy varnish. Inspection under UV-light reveals these retouchings and strengthenings, as well a few additional ones in the water and minor retouchings in the foreground. Offered in a wood lacquered frame, in fair condition. (JD/ML)
