Description

  • Edgar Degas
  • La Sortie du bain (Delteil 36; Reed/Shapiro 42)
  • 127 by 127 mm 5 by 5 in
Drypoint, 1879-80, a unique impression of the sixth state (of twenty-two), with a veil of plate tone shadowing the figure, with the Atelier Edgar Degas ink stamp on the verso (Lugt 657), on laid paper watermarked Original Basted Mill Kent,  with wide margins, in good condition apart from a central vertical fold visible on the verso, stray ink and light soiling at the sheet edges

Condition

The print is in good condition. A vertical fold bisects the images but is visible only on the verso. The inky fingerprints at upper right were likely incurred during the printing and soiling at the edges is minor.
