Condition

This early print, on double-weight paper, rich with subtle detail that is often lost in later prints. It is in generally excellent condition. In raking light, a number of small sharp handling creases, and a few very small surface scratches are visible at the lower left quadrant. Also visible in raking light are a number of faint impressions and very light creases overall. None of these break the emulsion. The margin corners are lightly bumped. On the reverse of the print, the bottom and top edges have a thin line of light soiling. The photograph is annotated '91:406' and 'F126' in unidentified hands in pencil on the reverse. When examined with a black light, this print appears to fluoresce. We base our dating of this print on the photographic paper and the appearance of the printed image.
